Tours
Tours begin at the Museum/Commanding Officer's house on the west side of the Parade Ground at 9:30 AM and finish at the same place about noon when the museum is open for touring. Walking is moderate. Water is sold before and after each tour. We gratefully accept donations.
We are dog friendly for leashed and well behaved dogs. There is a "barking lot" outside the Museum for visitors while they are inside the museum.
The museum has 3 floors and is not handicap accessible. We do have a photo scrapbook for visitors who cannot climb the stairs.
A gift shop of old fashioned items for all ages, new and used books related to Fort Bayard history, aprons, bonnets, military hats, postcards and other fun misc. items are for purchase at the end of the tour. Volunteers (501c3) lead the tours and host the museum.
Visitors can take the self-guided tour , walking or driving, with a brochure from the front guard house or in front of the Museum.
Private tours can be scheduled by phoning Kathy Hill at 307.640.3012 or Cecilia Bell at 575.956.3294. There is a $4. fee per person.
Thanks to the hard work of many people and organizations, the property will stay open until ????.....Stay tuned.
